White Horses

White Horses

I have produced several sculptures of this nature, namely ‘Rose’ a few years ago. Following the same thought process, I wanted to create something soft and delicate using hard and sharp materials. It just so happened that I had this beautiful blue steel in my workshop store and it wasn’t the work of genius to associate it with water.

I first came across the expression ‘White Horses’ in my teens when I pretended to windsurf. It has always stuck in my head and, when I was looking to name this piece, I finally had the chance to give it life. For those unfamiliar with the phrase, it describes the white caps on top of waves in the sea.

‘White Horses’ is 45 x 45 x 5 cm and was finished in January 2019. It’s only material is steel, painted but not by me. It’s mounted in a white wooden box frame and will most likely be exhibited in late spring 2019.
